I’d like to introduce you to a collection of artists at the charity ARTHOUSE Unlimited. I visited them for the first time in August 2019. I was so happy with what they have to offer. Whilst there I purchased some of their handmade chocolate).
What I liked most of all, however, was that the charity offers people with complex needs the opportunity to create artwork. This charity will be added to the others that I support by giving 25% of all art sales. Therefore, in September 2019, they will be my charity of the month.
ARTHOUSE Unlimited is a collective of artists living with complex epilepsy and learning disabilities. All of the artists require varying levels of support. The artists work alongside instructors to create artworks. Their artwork is then developed into designer products for sale. People can also purchase a selection of original artwork. The skills each artist brings to the enterprise and every contribution holds real value.
Here are some of their artwork (Copyright belongs to their artists; to view more products please visit their online shop):
Offering a sense of purpose lies at the heart of ARTHOUSE Unlimited’s philosophy. They also believe that feeling truly respected improves health and well-being. They strive to challenge perceptions and to create better acceptance and inclusion for all people living with disabilities.
As they grow they hope to offer more opportunities to people in other towns across the UK. 100% of sales revenue sustains their enterprise, enabling it to expand and evolve.
With high quality artwork and products, they aim to create a platform of positive change in attitude towards people who are often marginalised.
Their passion, work, and ethos, links very closely to my own, and I’m glad to be supporting them in any way I can.
